"I would highly recommend the Travel Green Wisconsin certification process to other Door County businesses. At The Cookery, we decided to complete the certification because we felt that the application process would provide us with a useful tool to help us analyze ways in which we are already sustainable as well as new practices and initiatives that could be implemented to lessen our environmental footprint. Although you can certainly "green" your business without this certification, the application process prompts you to think of new avenues to become more sustainable and it is also unique in that it encourages you to educate your staff and customers of the certification and your initiatives. I think this education piece is particularly important because a ripple effect will hopefully be felt as employees and customers realize that some of your efforts could also be performed in their own lives."

--- Courtney Skare, The Cookery Restaurant

It's amazing how many different ways your financial support of locally owned and operated businesses comes back around to support you and the community we live in. Money spent outside of a community is called "leakage" because there is no return on your money so, please check our Directory before you send your support outside of the County.

SCAMS

We are currently aware of an above average amount of scams wherein the customer is asking for a sum of money to be forwarded to them from a larger check or credit card payment.   DO NOT FORWARD CASH TO ANYONE BEFORE YOU VERIFY THE STABILITY OF THE FUNDS - especially when dealing with the delays of overseas transaction.  Before you do anything, check out the links we have posted HERE

Telecommunications Surveys

Broadband telecommunications services are, and will continue to be, a driving force in both the social and economic development of Door County. It is broadband services that will make rural communities economically viable within the global marketplace. The Door County Economic Development Corporation asks all Door County residents and businesses to voice your broadband needs via two brief online surveys. Links to both surveys can be found at www.doorcountybusiness.com/tech.
