I didn’t want to abuse my privilege of your e-mail but, in this rare occasion, congratulations are in order. The Sturgeon Bay Clippers are bringing home the First State Football Championship trophy in School History and, it’s a perfect time to rally around their success and share in their joy.
When I was in High School – (oh, so many years ago) – nothing impacted us so positively as when our team won the State Championship and the entire city was flooded with messages of support and congratulations. Even though we weren’t on the team, those messages made a statement of acceptance by the people of our community – during a time in our lives when we weren’t so clear that we “belonged”.
So, it is in that spirit that I encourage you to show your pride in some creative way and/or invite you to print off this simple poster to hang in your windows (Business, Home or Vehicle)
The Clippers will be returning to Sturgeon Bay around Noon today (Friday). A Parade is planned and you should tune to our local radio stations for details and the parade route if you’re interested. The last I heard, they were going to assemble the parade on the west side – in the Plaza parking lot near the Door County Co-Operative – and then make their way downtown and over to the High School. But, this has not been confirmed.
