Fiber Optics – and YOU (it’s here!)

In a recent Economic Adjustment Study it was sighted that one of the greatest obstacles we face in attracting environmentally sound, high paying jobs is our primitive phone system and its lack of redundancy.  Redundancy allows telephone calls to travel along a “detour” in the event a line is disconnected and, businesses relying on Internet and telephone connectivity cannot afford this vulnerability and have been shying away from Door County because of it.  Fortunately, the Door County Economic Development Corporation spearheaded the efforts to have Door County chosen as a model for regional broadband telecommunications networking - to be installed by Brilliant Cities throughout Door County – so we all benefit – not just a few.  Service to Residents and Businesses will start in Sturgeon Bay in early 2006 with connections available in northern Door by the end of 2006.
