Operation Welcome Homes

Dear Members:

I have forwarded to you a very touching letter from the wife of a veteran who was able to bring her family up to Door County for a stay in a donated unit.  They were also able to take advantage of a number of gift certificates provided by Door County shop owners and restaurants.

As the new season approaches, we are once again reaching out to members for help in replenishing our donations of units and gift certificates. Through the generosity of merchants and property owners throughout Door County, we can continue to provide returning service personnel and their families with much needed rest and relaxation.  Thanks again for your continued support.

Sincerely,  Don Rubin  (Operation Welcome Homes)

Dear Don,

I just finished filling out a survey for the Department of Defense regarding my husband's deployment to Iraq.  One of the questions was "What was the one service/organization that most helped your family with post-deployment?"  My answer: Operation Welcome Home.  Even though we took our vacation 7 months after my husbands return from a 14 month deployment, it was during our relaxing time in Door County that our family reconnected--especially our teenager.

Please know we are forever grateful to all those in Door County that made this time possible.  Please keep up the good work.

Warm regards, Sharon Siepel - Goshen, Ohio
