The Love Birds Package

Nature of Romance Promotion, 2007

 

Since 1999, the Door County Visitor Bureau has promoted winter as the perfect time for romantic weekends in Door County using the Nature of Romance theme and special Nature of Romance packages for two.

 

Beginning in just a few weeks, we will again be promoting romantic winter packages with web advertising and a targeted public relations campaign to our major markets in Wisconsin, greater Chicago and the Twin Cities area.

 

All marketing and PR efforts will direct people to our web site, www.DoorCounty.com, where package descriptions will be prominently displayed with click-throughs to your web site. We also will be drawing attention to the promotion and participants with our Insider Tip e-newsletter in our November, December & January issues. Our Insider Tip e-newsletter currently has a subscriber base of over 14,500, and it continues to increase on a daily basis.  Speaking of our Insider Tip e-newsletter, if you plan to participate in this year’s promotion and would like to donate a Nature of Romance prize package from your property to give away through one of those e-newsletters, please let me know.  Since I only need three, one for each e-newsletter, I’ll have to accept them on a first-come basis.

 

Based on feedback from participants and visitors, we will again be starting the promotion early this year, and would like to have the 2007 romance packages up on DoorCounty.com in early November.  Our web site and PR efforts will play up the “buy a romance package for Christmas” angle between now and Christmas.

 

Participating properties will need to put together a Nature of Romance package that includes, at a minimum, a two-night stay, a meal for two and a third special romantic extra. This third element is up to you – it could be a massage, a wagon/sleigh ride, a gift basket, a Door County gift certificate, or some other creative touch.  We encourage you to be creative and add additional items or tie-ins with other local Door County businesses as appropriate to your package.

 

We ask that all packages be valid from Dec. 1, 2006 through March 31, 2007, based on availability. You may black out certain weekends as necessary (Valentines Weekend, New Year’s, etc.) and you may also extend your package beyond March if you wish.

 

To sign up, all you need to do is complete our on-line sign-up form at:

On the sign up form you will need to provide us with a package description, maximum 125 words.  You’ll also need to provide us with a package title, your phone number, your web site address, e-mail and the package price. If you have more than one price option, you can use a range.  We’ll also need you to provide a property photo and your logo (72 DPI and at least 200 pixels wide).  Please e-mail your photo and logo to jon@doorcounty.com.  If you participated in last year’s Nature of Romance promotion and would like to use the photo and logo from your listing last year, let me know and you won’t need to resend those files.

 

The cost to participate this year is again $75.00.  You will be sent an invoice for that amount once your package has been added to the web site.

 

Deadline:  I’m hoping that you will be able to complete the on-line sign up form and get me your photo and logo by the first week of November.  Packages will be added to the web site within a few days from when they are received, so the sooner you get them in, the longer they’ll be featured on the web site.  If for whatever reason you are unable to get your package in by early November, that’s fine – your package can be added to the site at any time, whether it’s in November, December or even January.  The $75 participation fee will stay the same regardless of the time your package is submitted.
